The IBSEN’s team is regularly involved in conferences, events and workshops to promote the work of the London Metropolitan University Biological Security Research Centre (BSRC) and the International Biological Security Education Network (IBSEN).
- The LMU organised a high-level Workshop on 3-4 October 2025 called “The Impact of Emerging and Converging Technologies on Biosecurity and its Biosecurity Education” held in London, UK.
- Professor Shang and Professor Dando attended the online meeting of the reconvening of the Pugwash Working Group on Chemical and Biological Weapons (CBW WG) held on 3 October 2025.
- Professor Lijun Shang attended the event “Driving Innovation Responsibly: A New Frontier in Biosecurity” hosted by the Royal Society of Biology (UK) in London on 22 September 2025.
- Ms. Kathryn Millett attended the Global Partnership’s Biological Security Working Group (BSWG) meeting in the margins of the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention Sixth Meeting of the Working Group to Strengthen the Convention held at the Canadian Mission to the United Nations in Geneva on Wednesday 13 August 2025.
- The LMU BSRC staff held a side event called “Biosecurity education: from concept to implementation” at the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention Sixth Meeting of the Working Group to Strengthen the Convention.
- LMU BSRC staff members, Ms. Kathryn Millett and Ms. Olivia Ibbotson, presented at the LMU Staff and Student Research Conference ‘Innovation and Community: Research for a Sustainable Future’. Ms. Ibbotson’s presentation was awarded ‘best presentation of Day’ of the conference.
- BSRC staff member, Ms. Olivia Ibbotson, took part in the Second Annual CBR Cohort Event at the University of Bath in July 2025.
- BSRC staff member, Ms. Olivia Ibbotson, PhD bas been appointed an Executive Board member of Student/Young Pugwash.
- BSRC staff contributed an article to an Applied Biosafety issue devoted to Biosafety and Biosecurity for Potential Pandemic Pathogens and Dual-Use Research of Concern (Volume 30, Number 2) in early 2025 called “Towards collaborative, collective, and integrative international chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear security education“.
- BSRC staff, Professor Malcolm Dando, contributed a joint chapter to the publication “50 Years of the Biological Weapons Convention: Past, Present and Future” published in January 2025.
